A Nebraska man spent his 60th birthday paddling 38 miles inside a hollowed-out pumpkin. Now, he’s waiting to see if he broke a Guinness World Record.
7 30 in the morning for almost 12 hours in an 800 plus pound hollowed out pumpkin that sound. Dwayne Hanson celebrated his 60th birthday, His goal breaking the Guinness world record for well the longest journey in a hollowed out pumpkin. Hansen who has made a hobby out of growing large pumpkins, gourds and other vegetables, told the Omaha world herald he was inspired to take the journey after meeting a woman, at pumpkin growing seminar who once held the record.

After years of effort, Hansen finally grew a giant £846 pumpkin named Berta that was large enough for him to sit inside.
Then he grabbed his paddle and set sail. So about bertha’s maiden voyage, Hansen left Bellevue Nebraska at approximately 7:30 a.m. And docked in Nebraska city around 6 30 that evening smashing the previous record of 25.5 miles set in 26.
Hansen had Bellevue city officials as witnesses as well as family and friends who followed in a regular boat to document the journey.
Guinness officials must provide confirmation before Hanson officially becomes the new world record holder, but he told the Omaha world herald he has all the evidence needed, which includes photos, witnesses and video taken every hour during the journey.
In the meantime, Bird of the pumpkin now sits outside Hansen’s house as a reminder of the unforgettable voyage
